Don't the weather take control!

In the midst of summer, it seems strange to be thinking about snow and ice but the first cold snap can often catch us unprepared. How can you make sure you're read

Simple, use Clean Estates' FrostWatch. The only certainty about the British weather is its unpredictability and although last winter was mostly kind, we still had significant snow falls in February & April accompanied by very low temperatures. The previous two winters have been among the worst since records began, causing major disruption to everyday affairs.

This impact upon the commercial output of estates can be considerable and it is quite possible that this winter will return to severe conditions. Are you prepared?

Clean Estates once again offers its comprehensive, reliable and cost effective winter maintenance service in England and Wales. The FrostWatch service is specifically designed to minimise winter disruption to your estate. By participating in FrostWatch, you will benefit from a wide range of excellent services as follows:

  • Specialist gritting vehicles with crews on standby 24/7..
  • Bespoke Met Office "Open Road" forecast working on surface temperatures.
  • The Frostwatch service operates seven days a week; however this can be tailored to suit your requirements.
  • Automatic deployment of service triggered by "Open road" forecast of ice, frost or snow.
  • On board GRPS vehicle monitoring and tracking systems, detailed records are kept and copies can be provided on request.
  • Optimum salt spread rates appropriate for the severity of the conditions. As with the vehicle tracking, this is recorded should the data be required at a later date.
  • Rock salt conforms to British Standard BS3247 and contains an anti-caking agent to ensure proper spreading. We do not use inferior quality salt that has been mixed with fillers.
  • Work is planned and carried out during the night, so minimal disruption is caused.
  • Regular updates of call outs and work done..
  • Early warnings when heavy snowfall is forecast available for sites on a seven night service.
  • Update to online customer systems, such as RiskWise, if required.

Optional extras include:

  • Hand gritting for areas inaccessible for gritting vehicles.
  • Snow clearance (subject to availability of resources.)
  • Supply and re stocking of grit bins throughout the season.

In previous years, there have been many scare stories about salt shortages. Due to good forward planning and a strong supply network, along with around 20,000 tonnes of contingency stocks Clean Estates is one of the very few winter maintenance contractors that did not run out of salt.
